I started a new job about 3 months ago it is a pretty typical work area nothing fancy in regard to the building or the office furniture. I work with 14 programmers one of them even reminds me of Milton from Office Space it is amazing but this isn’t important to the story. Like many people I enjoy a morning cup of coffee or tea to start my day while I go through emails and phone messages. Sometimes I don’t finish all of my coffee or I’ll leave a few sips of coffee. What should I do with it? Well I place the cup in the trash can which is what I think anyone else would do? The first time I did this the cleaning people left a post it on my desk “NO LIQUIDS!” but they took the trash. So I keep doing it because well you are a cleaning crew I think what i did was reasonable. After about a month I start getting more notes. “STOP” or “No more LIQUIDS!” eventually it came to “Take the liquids out!” but they took all of the other trash out of my can. I asked around the office and building if anyone else throws away coffee cups in the trash and they all looked at me like I was drunk. “Of course we throw things in the trash” a couple of guys even told me “Man I spit my chew in there all day or throw my spit cup in”. So I came to the conclusion anyone would after doing a little investigation just keep on throwing things in the trash. Until I came in one day I looked down and I had no trash can to speak of except this time I didn’t even get a note! Of course I ask myself well what to do now? I just took one of many trash cans randomly around the office of course. Then I came in the next day and this trash can was gone! Clearly we have a trash Nazi on our hands and they want to cleanse the world of people who love coffee and tea. Now that I have lost 2 trash cans I have to ask myself where do we take this next? Should I just keep taking trash cans? Should I just randomly throw my cups in other trash cans?
Anyone that knows me personally would usually say I am not retarded and should have brought this up to someone to resolve the issue. Yet I find much more amusement in coming up with creative ways to keep throwing my cups away instead. What can I say I like to solve problems.
